My name’s Elly and I’m one of the editors here at BoundBy :)) I love to write poetry because firstly, my attention span doesn’t let me write huge lengths of prose and also, I need a space to dump all of my slightly insane thoughts. I have a strong connection to poetry as I use it to help process events in my life or various emotions.

As a poet, I stray towards experimental forms - I don’t think there are many boundaries for poetry, if any, and I like to show this through distorting familiar forms or trying to come up with something strange and new. This ‘playfulness’ is something I try to incorporate into a lot of my poems, whether that be through language or different sentence structures. My poetry tends to include vivid imagery of discomfort and I enjoy making a reader sit through a feeling, or even leave them pondering about the feeling after finishing the poem.

Currently, I’m living in Madrid after having just graduated from university. I plan on continuing to write poems and, perhaps, write some in Spanish. After my year in Spain, I hope to return to England and either do a masters in poetry or search for a job in the publishing industry.
