I Live
A Poem by Sophia Witcomb
Come, throw around words as though they’re as light
As feathers which land with the force of bricks
You don’t see the difference between a fight
And fighting for love – god it makes me sick
Slice up my heart and then convince me that
It is now more beautiful than before
Water worries, suffocate passions that
Made me live, now I live for me no more

And you know you provide safety – so kind! –
For when again you push me to the edge
Bring healing poisons for my broken mind
Listen as you to me your heart does pledge
Once more persuade me that your words are true
So I can live, I live, only for you
